Anna Riley had her 4 month doctor's appointment this morning. She weighed 15 lbs. 9 1/2 oz. and was 26 inches long which put her in the 90th percentile for both weight and height. I am not for sure about her head circumference. Dr. Roberts was pleased with all of her milestones. She had to get the same shots she got at 2 months. She cried a little more this time which just broke my heart! She was better though by the time we left the room and came home and took a nice long nap! She gave us the go ahead on cereal which we had already started on Sunday. She also told me to wait until 6 months to start on any other foods because of any allergy possliblities which I was not happy about and I am not for sure if I am going to listen or not! haha...I know some doctors say they can start solids after being on cereal for a little while and some would rather you wait until 6 months. What are your thoughts?
Getting checked by Dr. Roberts

Dr. Roberts told us the same thing last week. However, our pediatrician in Dallas encouraged us to start Isabelle on solids once she'd been on cereal for a week. Will we wait until 6 months to give Darby food? No. We will probably start him soon. But, we've been through this with Isabelle and had no issues with food allergies. Now if Isabelle had allergies we might be more apprehensive. Just trust your own instinct here. You know your child better than anyone else - medical degree or not.
Thanks Raegan! That helps a lot! I really feel like she is ready and I think I will start slowly sometime before 5 months. Thanks for the advice!
Watch Anna Riley. It takes a little time to get used to cereal or oatmeal....but once she does....GO FOR IT! Have you tasted rice cereal...nasty! So i added flavor as soon i as could. And just from my experience and how well zoe is doing....even if you dont want to do every feeding...make some of her food because it give her variety in textures. Zoe has already mastered puffs on the first day because she has dealt with textures and chunks. Just a suggestion.
Our ped. said to start trying other foods once he mastered cereal, and she said it was fine to get some of the flavored cereal.
And at 6 months, I definitely recommend the star puffs (FYI the off-brand is just as good as gerber). Carson loved them from the get-go!
You'te the mama! You go with what you feel is best.
