Back to School

Well I guess summer had to end sometime and I would have to eventually go back to school. But it just seemed too soon this year. I know I am very fortunate to even have a summer but I promise you...it is well needed! But despite how long I want my summer to last...it ended and I started back on Monday. The kids came back today. I walked in this morning to 17 smiling 1st graders! It was a good day. But my husband really helped start it off right. This is my 3rd year to teach and every year from him I have gotten flowers and a card on the first day of school. I kind of thought I might not get them this year because the first year was of course for my first year and the second year was because I was at a new school, so I thought well...I shouldn't expect them this year! But he did and they were beautiful and his cards always make me laugh! I just have to share that his card was a sympathy card and it said "in your time of pain!" It took me a second to get it and I would have never thought to even do that! I had a great first day with my new set of 1st graders!

Kim & Eli's Wedding

We enjoyed another wedding this past Saturday. Two of my good friends from college got married in Birmingham. They also met at the Student Rec. Center on campus like Riley and I. It was great to see some of my college friends again. That is the great thing about all of these weddings...each one is like another reunion! The wedding was beautiful and the reception was also very nice. They had sooo much food...it was very hard to choose, I was embarrassed at how much I had on my plate!! We had a wonderful time!Riley and I at the receptionBecca, Ashley & myself at the receptionThe beautiful bride & myselfMe with the groom

Happy Belated Birthday Granny!

My computer has been down so I wasn't able to post anything for a couple of weeks...so therefore I am late! I had to attend a 2 week Amsti workshop so I was unable to visit Granny on her actual birthday but the two of us celebrated her b'day this past Monday together. We went to lunch at Eagle Rock Cafe and then for supper I wanted to learn how to make her absolutely wonderful Chicken and Dumplings. So, we had a mini cooking session and who better to learn from than one of the BEST! We made a wonderful supper together and Riley came up to eat with us. It was great spending the day together!! I am so thankful that I have such a wonderful Grandmother! (Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures so I posted these instead.)

Girl's Sushi Nights

On Tuesday night's at Chucks Fish they have "Ladies Night" for Sushi. Only the ladies get the discount! I love Sushi so this is just great for me so a few of us girls try to go whenever possible. This past Tuesday Peyton joined us for lots of really good sushi...fried green tomatoes...and yes we HAD to have dessert! I am so glad that you came Peyton and I look forward to our next month's sushi night.Peyton, me & Bethany

Kimberly & Cory's Wedding

Saturday the 12th, one of my good friends from college married Cory Phillips (from Berry). I know what a small world! And in September another one of my college friends is marrying Zach (Cory's brother)! We had a wonderful time at their wedding and it turned out beautiful! I am so glad that I could be a part of it. Here are a few pictures from the weekend...

Keep us in your prayers

I just wanted to say thanks to all of those that have been praying for our family. For those who don't know, Riley's mom had a liver transplant Sunday the 13th (her birthday). She is at UAB and doing great. I have been amazed at how fast everything has moved in less than 2 weeks. She should move out of the hospital and into a hotel near the hospital tomorrow and she will have to stay there for a few more weeks. Just keep praying for a fast recovery. I know HE will take care of her! Thanks again for all of your thoughts and prayers!
